Pre-team swimmers are able to swim freestyle, float, and generally get around the pool (i.e. from the diving board to the ladder), but are not strong enough for the swim team, the usual age range is older 5s to 7s and possibly some 8s.
This program is for children that cannot yet swim freestyle and/or backstroke a full length of the pool (25 meters without touching the bottom or lane ropes) in less than 60 seconds. The pre-team provides that “critical stepping stone” for children to eventually move onto the swim team by strengthening all their swimming skills.
The pre-team is not designed to take the place of swimming lessons. Supplementing the pre-team experience with swimming lessons will more rapidly improve a beginning swimmer’s skills.
A caregiver is not required to be on deck, but it is still a good idea and encouraged. Pre-Team will practice during select times with a higher swimmer-to-coach ratio. Please note, at this time coaches are not allowed to be hands-on with swimmers due to MoCo guidelines requiring 6' social distance.
Pre-team is a part of the swim team and as such you sign up for the "season." There will only be one 4-week session. Swimmers are not required to attend all four weeks. You pay one fee to join the team (pro-rating is not available) and come as you can. No PM classes during Wednesday night home swim meets.
Swimmers who meet the eligibility requirements can move up to the swim team during the season if space is available. Please talk to the coach if you think your child is ready to try and pass the swim team test.
2026 Pre-Team Schedule, June 22-July 9
Pre-Team runs for four weeks. Each day you attend only your designated session, which you will choose at the time of registration.
AM Session: 915-100AM Monday - Thursday (MAIN POOL)
OR
PM Session 1: 445-530PM Monday - Thursday (MIDDLE POOL)
PM Session 2: 630-715PM Monday - Thursdays (MAIN POOL/MIDDLE POOL)
Note for PM Sessions: No practice on Wednesday nights when Swim Team has HOME meets (June 24, July 1).
It is highly recommended that you choose the AM session if possible. The morning group is smaller and there is less risk for thunderstorms. On the days of Wednesday home swim meets only, PM session swimmers may attend the 915AM class since they will not have pm practice.
2026 FEES (You sign up for the season; there are no pro-rates so please don't ask)
$399/season
Group size is limited to 24 per group for the 915AM and 630-715AM sessions and 8 for the 445-530PM session. Once registration fills up, we will take a waitlist. If we can increase capacity and add swimmers we will, but this is not guaranteed. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
