Dive Team Volunteers
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
MCDL is a volunteer-run league, so we need the help of all parents for the program to run smoothly. Each meet needs a referee, 5 judges, 4 table workers, and an announcer. We also often need help bring snacks, water and tents to meets or putting up no-parking signs near the pool before the meet.
Parent volunteers are essential to make the meets happen!
Please note that each family is required to volunteer a minimum of two times each season.
Each role below fulfills one of the required slots:
- Table Worker - Inspects dive sheets for accuracy, records judge's scores, and computes scores. (No official training required.)
- Judge - Scores each dive. No previous diving experience is necessary. Judges. Judging clinics are offered pre-season to become certified - there is both an online and in-person portion of the training.
- Meet Referee - Provides instruction to the judges and coaches before the meet. Makes decisions relative to the execution of dives in line with the rule book. (Must have experience as a judge. Referee clinics are offered pre-season to become certified.)
- Meet Announcer - Announces diver, dive number, the dive, position, and degree of difficulty.

To become a judge or referee, you must first complete a short online training. See dive reps for details.
